Our people

Great people, building great things

People are hugely important. At Ducon we have always known that we have to build with the best resources and the best team to make our company a success. At Ducon we're a vibrant multifaceted organisation that's driven to be best in class in every aspect of the business and in every sector we occupy. To achieve this vision we need the best people.

We have built a culture that people really want to be part of. We all have one thing in common, we are passionate about building. We believe in working hard but having fun. We are always asking the question, 'is it good or is it great?' so we can challenge one another to be the best we can be.

Ducon has a skilled, professional and energetic team of site and office based employees and subcontractors, to ensure the projects undertaken are well managed and completed successfully and efficiently.

Ducon take the continuing professional development of staff seriously to ensure that each project is approached with an innovative, flexible 'can do' attitude to safely solve the inevitable challenges that each new project brings.

Management Team

Peter Mason / Managing Director

Peter has always known that building is all about solving problems. The practical problems of translating an architect’s concept into reality, the intangible problems of ensuring what’s in a client’s mind is brought faithfully to life, and the day-to-day problems of running a company capable of rising to whatever challenge is thrown at it. In a career spanning 30 years, Peter has made such problem solving his specialty.

Maybe it’s in his blood with his father and grandfather having been successful within the building industry, or maybe, as a kid he could see how things went together like a jigsaw in his head!

Peter began his career as an apprentice carpenter and even in his early days was recognised for his leadership potential and capacity to think outside the square. This led Peter to be appointed as foreman before the completion of his apprenticeship.

Having established Ducon in 2002, it’s no surprise to learn that Peter enjoys a reputation among clients, employees, peers and the industry at large as someone capable of bringing great empathy, insight and building talent to a project.

Peter says he can build anything and he means it. It’s the assured confidence that comes with deep knowledge of the building trade, wide experience and resources in the industry, and a determination to find new ways to make the ordinary extraordinary and the impossible possible. It’s also the mark of a true modern day maverick.

Brett Figas / General Manager

Prior to working at Ducon, Brett worked within the pre manufactured truss industry where he developed the qualifications and experience to manage all on-site operations, administration and client liaison.

Brett’s passion for problem solving and innovation for the industry saw him join the Ducon team in 2008 as a Project Manager to work in the newly developed maintenance division.

Brett’s commitment has seen the division experience huge growth where he then moved into the role of Senior Project Manager, followed by Operations Manager. As the Operations Manager, Brett overlooked all Project Managers, Contract Administrators and site staff and managed the delivery of all projects within the department.

With 13 years in the building industry and clearly defined communication and leadership skills, Brett has since been promoted to General Manager and continues to work with the whole team at Ducon, along with clients and architects.

Brett’s goals are to be a part of Ducon becoming a highly respected and well known industry leader within the commercial building sector with Ducon being recognised as the go to company known for innovation and ‘doing it better’.

Kelvin O'Brien / Service Manager

Kelvin joined the Ducon team in 2013 where he was based on site and was then moved into an Operations Supervisor position.

With over 28 years’ experience in the construction industry from residential to fit outs and shop fitting, Kelvin was promoted to his current position as Service Manager. Taking on a whole new approach to running the service department, Kelvin has grown it into a successful part of the business.

Kelvin’s passion for the industry, coupled with his true leadership skills will no doubt see him achieve his goal of further developing his department, making it an even bigger success than it already is.

Outside of work, Kelvin enjoys playing Cricket and coaching the junior Cricket team.

Daniel Lafranchi / Estimating & Marketing Manager

Daniel has over 10 years’ experience within the building industry, with most of his experience stemming from positions held in estimating and sales and marketing.

Having joined Ducon in 2012 as an Estimator, his aspirations for envisioning a solution focused approach saw him move into Estimating Management in little over a year. Daniel’s passion for difficult and unique projects is the benchmark for successfully leading his team of estimators.

Outside of Ducon, Daniel enjoys camping and motorcycle riding and restoration.

Justin O'Halloran / Commercial Manager

Prior to joining Ducon, Justin’s background is 20 years’ experience within Corporate Retail and Property where he successfully managed the financial results of large business units.

Having experience working with both internal and external stakeholders and being a part of senior leadership teams saw Justin a perfect fit for the team at Ducon.

Justin joined Ducon in 2015 as Commercial Manager, initially as a short-term contract. Justin’s goals are to be a leader within an industry leading organisation where he can help provide a great working environment for all.

Justin prides himself on being a member of CPA Australia with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from RMIT.

Outside of work, Justin is an active volunteer Surf Lifesaver who is involved in beach patrols and the nipper program.
