The works involved the refit of an existing staff room and offices to accommodate the new Seimens CT Scanner.
Ducon was also required to install a new medication room, sterile store room, internal offices and the patient and staff rooms required for the operation of the CT Scanner. The works were conducted adjacent to the current hospital emergency ward and mainentrance which were both fully operational throughout the project build. This presented aconstant challenge for Ducon to work within such a busy and critically important environment.
Infection control, the working environment for the nurses and the comfort of all patients was always taken in to consideration with sections of the works needing to be completed out of hours, while there was minimal traffic throughout the hospital. Particulars of the CT Scan Room itself were that the room required electronic cardiac protection throughout, full lead lining to all walls including the glazing section to the control room and doors, as well as its own dedicated switchboard. The project was completed to the satisfaction of both the architect and the client while the staff members affected by the build, and who were to occupy the new spaces were also very happy with the final result.
