The extension included; suspended glazed roof, rejuvenated stone work which became the internal walls in the hallway, external Herringbone brick pattern which transitioned seamlessly
through the large glass entry doors and down to the hallway and inserting light fittings in to
the bricks which lit up the stone work.
In the main space, the building is richly finished in spotted gum floor boards which continue up the walls, finishing at a shelf at waist height. Above this, the bricks are exposed internally, running all the way to a suspended ply ceiling with recessed pelmets. The front elevation had a large glass sliding door, for which the track is cleverly hidden in the spotted gum floor and ceiling linings above.
Whilst there were some challenges to overcome, this project which included a number of unusual features and materials, was completed to the satisfaction of the client and the parishioners.
