Epsom & Eaglehawk Railway Stations

The Epsom and Eaglehawk Railway Station project involved the fast tracked developmentof two railway stations within the City of Bendigo, thus improving the rail infrastructure capabilities of this regional centre. The works included;

• Construction of a new 160m long platform & associated DDA compliant ramping & shelters
• Railway track regrade works to align existing tracks with the new platform
• Construction of a new 60 space car park to service the new station. This incorporated
  associated landscaping & drainage works.
• New drivers access path & DDA ramp construction to an operational station
• Avoid disruption to the rail operations on both lines adjacent to the Eaglehawk & Epsom
  stations during the works.

Ducon engaged a team of expert consultants and subcontractors to deliver this project within 16 weeks. This team complemented and enhanced Ducon’s extensive rail infrastructure experience and capability, and ensured the project was delivered to VicTrack and the State Government in time for the November 2014 State Election.

The project was delivered under a Design and Construct process. Challenges and key issues that were critical achieving a successful outcome included a strict construction program, the establishment of an expert team and development of the construction methodology / rail disruption plans to avoid any impact on the rail corridor.

Despite the challenges, this project was delivered ahead of schedule to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
