Stage 1: Planning and Coordination
Ducon planned and executed the works in carefully sequenced stages to preserve continuity of care and minimise disruption. The team worked closely with facility management to align construction windows with resident routines and staff handovers. Temporary services were provided wherever required, so heating, cooling, water and life safety systems remained available throughout.
Stage 2: Structural and External Works
Structural upgrades included new footings and steel framing to form a strong connection between the two hostels. The building envelope was refreshed with roofing, cladding and glazing improvements to extend service life and improve comfort. Externally, soft and hard landscaping delivered safer access, improved pathways and more inviting courtyards for everyday use.
Stage 3: Internal Fitout and Services Upgrades
Internally, Ducon installed new partitions and wall linings, upgraded joinery, flooring and paint finishes, and selected durable, easy-to-maintain materials suited to an aged care environment. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were modernised for reliability and efficiency, with attention to thermal comfort, fire protection and water management. Space planning allowed new furniture to be incorporated once selections were finalised.
Stage 4: Safety, Quality and Occupied-Site Management
Health, safety and quality were integrated throughout delivery. Daily pre-starts, live risk registers and clear permit processes guided activities in occupied areas. Hold points confirmed workmanship across the structure, services and finishes. Communication with stakeholders remained open and consistent, so residents and staff always knew what to expect next.
