Metro Tunnel Network Readiness — Wayfinding Project

Ducon delivered wayfinding upgrades across live Metro Trains environments, coordinating staged works to minimise disruption to daily rail operations. In practice that meant:

• Staged delivery across multiple live interchange stations, sequenced with Metro Trains’ operational calendar

• Works planned around passenger flows and network operations — stations stayed open, services kept running

• Coordination with station staff and network operations at every stage — the aspiration, as always: passengers should be able to pretend we’re not there at all

• Delivered on program for Metro Tunnel network readiness, with practical completion in February 2026.

Outcome

Wayfinding upgrades across the key interchange stations were completed as part of Metro Tunnel network readiness — delivered in live rail environments, on a ~10-month program, at a final contract sum of $3.86M against a $3.79M tender (variations settled within ~2% of tender).

Metro Trains Melbourne’s Project Manager completed a formal client performance report on the contract (June 2026), rating Ducon above the required standard for cooperation with client and end user, responsiveness to communication, good faith and fair dealing, management of unexpected issues, and the relevant experience of site personnel.
